Digital Fiber Tech Private Limited

Last updated: 20-06-2026

Digital Fiber Tech Private Limited (“Digital Fiber”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its subscribers, website visitors and other individuals whose personal data we handle. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use, share, store and protect it, and the choices and rights available to you.

This Policy applies to personal data collected through our website www.digitalfiber.in, our mobile and web applications, our customer-premises equipment (routers/ONTs/set-top boxes), our call centre and support channels, and in the course of providing our fibre-optic broadband, internet, and bundled OTT and television (“IPTV/DTV”) services (together, the “Services”).

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, the Customer Application Form (“CAF”) you complete when subscribing, and any service-specific terms you agree to. By submitting a CAF, registering for, purchasing or using the Services, you confirm that you have read and consent to this Policy and to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data as described here.

We handle personal data in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it (including the Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information Rules, 2011 — the “SPDI Rules”), the Telecommunications Act, 2023, and the conditions of our telecom licence/registration and applicable TRAI/DoT regulations.

1. Definitions

For ease of reference:

  • Personal Data / Personal Information means any data about an individual who is identifiable, by or in relation to such data.
  • Sensitive Personal Data or Information (“SPDI”) means information such as passwords, financial information (bank account, card or payment details), and biometric information, and is treated as a subset of Personal Data under this Policy.
  • Data Principal means the individual to whom the Personal Data relates (i.e., you).
  • Data Fiduciary means the entity that determines the purpose and means of processing (i.e., Digital Fiber).
  • Processing means any operation performed on Personal Data, including collection, storage, use, sharing, disclosure or erasure.

2. Information We Collect

To provide and manage the Services, verify your identity, bill you, improve and market our offerings, and comply with our legal obligations, we may collect the following categories of information.

2.1 Information you provide to us

  • Identity and contact details submitted during registration or profile updates — such as your name, the name of a parent, spouse or guardian (where required on the CAF), date of birth, gender, residential, billing and installation address, email address and mobile/telephone number, and a recent photograph.
  • Know-Your-Customer (KYC) documents that we are required by law to collect before activating a connection — such as Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport or Driving Licence, and proof of address (for example, a utility bill or registered agreement).
  • Subscription and billing details — the plan you select, add-on packs (including OTT and TV bundles), service history, and transaction records.

2.2 Sensitive Personal Data

  • Account passwords and other authentication credentials for the Services.
  • Financial information such as bank account, debit/credit card or other payment-instrument details. Online payments are processed through third-party payment gateways; we do not store complete card numbers or banking credentials on our systems.
  • Biometric/Aadhaar-linked information, only where required for KYC and handled strictly in accordance with applicable law.

2.3 Network, device and usage information

In the course of delivering internet and TV services, we automatically collect technical data, including your assigned IP address, MAC address, the identifiers and configuration of your router/ONT/set-top box, device identifiers, connection and session logs, login/logout times, bandwidth and data-usage volumes, signal quality, and diagnostic and fault logs. Certain of this data is generated and retained as part of normal network operation and to meet our regulatory obligations.

2.4 OTT and television service information

Where you subscribe to bundled OTT applications or our TV/IPTV service, we process the information needed to activate, link and manage those subscriptions. Your viewing activity and in-app behaviour on third-party OTT platforms are collected and processed by those platforms under their own privacy policies (see Section 8).

2.5 Website, app and cookie data

When you use our website or apps, we collect information such as your device and browser type, operating system, IP address, pages and content viewed, referring pages, access times and similar analytics, including through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).

2.6 Communications and support records

We keep records of your interactions with us — including emails, chats, support tickets, and telephone calls, which may be recorded for quality, training, verification and dispute-resolution purposes.

2.7 CCTV

We may operate CCTV at our offices and stores for safety and security, which may capture images of visitors.

2.8 Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from our channel partners, local cable operators (LCOs), installation and maintenance contractors, and identity/credit-verification agencies, to the extent permitted by law.

2.9 Mandatory and optional information

Our CAF identifies which fields are mandatory and which are optional. If you decline to provide mandatory information, do not consent to its use, or later withdraw your consent, we may be unable to activate or continue providing some or all of the Services.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for purposes connected with operating our business, which may include:

  • Verifying your identity and completing KYC as required by law and our licence conditions.
  • Setting up, activating, delivering, installing, maintaining and servicing your connection and equipment.
  • Processing payments, generating bills and invoices, and managing collections.
  • Providing customer support and handling your requests, complaints and service tickets.
  • Operating, monitoring, securing and troubleshooting our network, and detecting, preventing and investigating fraud, abuse, network misuse and unauthorised or illegal activity.
  • Analysing usage to understand, test and improve our Services, content and offerings.
  • Sending you service-related communications such as bills, renewal reminders, outage and security alerts, confirmations and policy or administrative notices.
  • Sending you marketing and promotional communications about our products, offers and partner services, where you have not opted out and subject to applicable law.
  • Complying with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful directions of courts, regulators and government and law-enforcement agencies (see Section 5).
  • Any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or to which you consent.

Lawful basis. We process your Personal Data on the basis of your consent and/or for the legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act — for example, where you have voluntarily provided data for a specified purpose, to fulfil the Services you have requested, and to comply with our legal obligations.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website and apps use cookies and similar technologies to enable core functionality, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, measure traffic, and understand and improve how our digital properties are used. We may also use third-party analytics tools (such as web analytics providers) that set their own cookies. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website.

5. Lawful Interception, Monitoring and Regulatory Compliance

As a licensed/registered provider of internet and telecommunication services in India, we are subject to obligations under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 (including Section 69), and the conditions of our licence/registration. These obligations require us, among other things, to verify subscriber identity, to retain certain subscriber, traffic and usage records for prescribed periods, and to provide assistance and access to authorised government and law-enforcement agencies for the purposes of lawful interception, monitoring, decryption and national security, in the manner and to the extent permitted by law. We comply with such lawful requirements and directions.

6. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell or rent your Personal Data. We disclose Personal Data only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers and processors. We engage trusted vendors, contractors and partners to perform services on our behalf — including payment processing, IT and cloud hosting, SMS/email delivery, analytics, customer verification, and equipment installation and maintenance (including LCOs/field partners). They are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us and are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
  • OTT and TV partners. Where you subscribe to bundled OTT or TV services, we share the minimum information necessary to activate and manage those subscriptions with the relevant partners.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities. We may disclose information to courts, regulators (such as DoT and TRAI), and government or law-enforcement agencies where required by law, in response to lawful requests, or to enforce our terms or protect rights, safety and property.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; the receiving entity will be required to honour this Policy.
  • Fraud prevention and protection. To detect, prevent and address fraud, security or technical issues, and to protect the rights, property and safety of Digital Fiber, our users and the public.
  • With your consent, or at your direction, for any other disclosure.

7. Transfer of Information

Your information is primarily stored and processed in India. Where necessary to provide the Services, or where you have consented, we may transfer or allow processing of your information by service providers located outside India (for example, cloud infrastructure), subject to the requirements of the DPDP Act and with appropriate safeguards to ensure a comparable level of protection.

8. Third-Party Websites, Apps and Services

The Services may include, or give you access to, third-party websites and applications — including bundled OTT platforms such as Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Sun NXT, aha and ETV Win. These third parties are independent and are governed by their own privacy policies and terms, over which we have no control. Once you access or use a third-party platform, the information you provide there and the data generated by your use is handled under that third party’s policy, not ours. We encourage you to review those policies. Where you ask us to share your information with a third-party service, we will obtain your consent for that specific sharing.

9. Data Retention

We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active and as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. We may retain certain information for longer periods where required to comply with our legal, regulatory, licensing, tax or accounting obligations, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymise it.

10. Data Security

We have implemented reasonable security practices and procedures — including technical, organisational and physical safeguards — designed to protect your information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and loss. These include access controls on a need-to-know basis, encryption or other appropriate controls for information in storage and in transit, and confidentiality obligations on our employees and partners.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We are not responsible for any loss, misuse or unauthorised disclosure of information arising from events beyond our reasonable control, such as hacking, social engineering, cyber-attacks, or force-majeure events.

11. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law and verification of your identity, you have the following rights in respect of your Personal Data under the DPDP Act:

  • Right to access a summary of the Personal Data we process about you and the processing activities undertaken.
  • Right to correction, completion, updating and erasure of your Personal Data.
  • Right to grievance redressal in respect of our handling of your Personal Data.
  • Right to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Grievance Officer (Section 13). We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Please note that exercising certain rights — for example, withdrawing consent or requesting erasure of mandatory information — may result in our being unable to continue providing the Services. We may also be unable to fully action a request where retention is required by law, where it would affect the rights of others, or where it is not technically feasible.

12. Consent, Withdrawal and Children’s Data

Consent. Where we rely on consent, you provide it when you submit your CAF or otherwise agree to this Policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our Grievance Officer, with the consequences noted in Section 11. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Children. The Services are intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older, or for use by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of a minor. We do not knowingly collect or process the Personal Data of children without verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, and we do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children, in accordance with the DPDP Act.
